Otay's Guide to Wolf Spider training!

Welcome.

This is my first guide, so keep that in mind with any complaints you may have. If you feel that I could improve this in any way, or you know something that you think could benefit the guide then feel free to post, and odds are I'll implement it somewhere.

Firstly, about me. I'm an 83 Ranger, and this guide is dedicated mainly to other 8X Rangers too. However I've never asked or investigated at the success of training here during 7X or 9X onwards, so who knows. As far as equips go, I think I have quite good equips for my level, however my stats are completely messed, so I think any 8X Ranger could train successfully here. maplestory mesos

Version History:

Version 0.1 - Completed everything apart from Areas #2, #3 and #4.

Version 0.5 - Added Area #2

Version 1.0 - Finished the actual guide, though contributions are still open.

Wolf Spiders are the strongest monsters released with New Leaf City in patch 0.40, and as such, are exclusive to gMS (as far as I know). They're pretty popular lately due to it being speculated they have an identical drop set to Lycanthropes, which drop some pretty nice gear.

However very few people (that I know of) actually use Spiders to train, so it's my intention with this guide to at least have some Rangers try it out, since I find it's pretty decent exp. Just as a sidenote, it takes me 5-6 Strafes to kill a single Spider.

What are the positives and negatives of training at Wolf Spiders?

Positives:

Decent (if not good) exp - I get around 14 - 15% and hour there.

Not far to travel from Victoria Island.

Very close to (IMO) the best potion source in the game.

Very valuable equip drops (Ilbis, Blue Screamers, Blue Scarabs)

Drops a considerable amount of mesos each kill (around 750-1050)

If you have a decent jump, very easy to jump over.

No magic attacks at all.

Negatives:

A lot of killing is done by sniping from a distance, so if you see a drop, you pretty much have to hustle there ASAP to pick it up before it becomes available for all maplestory mesos

There's nothing more frustrating than gathering a mob at the bottom, and having someone else start killing them.

They pack a VERY strong punch(~1500). Most rangers would die after 2 hits without repotting, so quick fingers are essential for survival.

It is very easy to die if you're not careful.

Being able to jump shoot is very important.

Now that's out of the way, time for the required skills:

3 Puppet is the absolute minimum - Though it's much more comfortable at 6.

A decent Strafe

At least 1 Arrow Rain - This is essential.

The ability to jumpshoot consistently - Not necessary, but makes everything a hell of a lot easier and faster. You'll be taking way too many hits if you haven't got this downpat.

At least +15 Jump - I'm not too sure about the exact amount of extra jump necessary, however my shoes are 15 jump and that works for everything. Jump is necessary to reach certain platforms easily.

Max Arrow Bomb - You'll use this a lot for mobs, so it's very important. Snipers are out of luck as there are areas where only Arrow Bomb will work.

And now for the map:

I'll be splitting up the guide into four areas - as indicated by the mini-map.

Area #1

Part 1

Now here is the "Safe Platform" of the map - it's the only place where you're free from being hit by spiders (though do take note - recently on the GameFAQs boards someone has been using summon bags on afk players here, so I'd afk in the Cash Shop when I can).

Now the A and B areas can only be accessed by Hermits and CBs, so if you desire to get up there, forget about it. However Rangers CAN still kill monsters up here (though with difficulty). Basically, if you stand at the middle of the platform (or slightly to the left or right - experiment with it) you CAN hit monsters up there, making Arrow Bomb ideal. However the Spiders MUST be exactly where the A or B box is at the time of firing for it to hit.

Now this is a problem frequently encountered when trying to kill here: You've aggravated all the Spiders, and now they're all jumping in that one spot at you - making them impossible to hit. I find the best thing to do here is to either cast Puppet twice or leave and re-enter the map. Both of these return the Spiders to neutral, meaning they run around once more. Basically the only way to kill these fast is if a Spider gets stunned in one of the A/B boxes. Initial impact of Arrow Bomb tends not to knock them back, meaning it can be spammed for continual damage. Example:

Oh and if you happen to have something drop up there, just pray either a Hermit/Thief friend is nearby or a generous person grabs it and will give it to you willingly. Otherwise you can sit and watch it disappear. That's the main reason I never kill in this spot unless it's absolutely necessary to keep spawn up. I KNOW that someday I'll get my long awaited Ilbi drop up here.

Now that covers the top bit, now for the second part of Area #1

This is the main part of Area #1. I've divided the place into the 4 locations here that Spiders spawn. Now where I'm standing (on top of the sign) is 1 - The central location for killing Spiders in areas 2, 3 and 4. This is where the boosted jump is necessary. Basically if you can jump from 4 to 1, you're sweet. If not, try and wear jump boosting equips (Icarus (3), Independence Day Hat *shudder*, jump scrolled shoes). Now assuming we are standing at 1 now, you can snipe Spiders on 2 & 3 pretty easily, I don't think that requires explanation.

It's killing Spiders on 4 that can be tricky. Lucky your friend Otay has a safe solution. Firstly you must make sure either platform 2 or 3 is Spider free. While standing on 1, if you cast Arrow Rain, you'll usually hit all the Spiders beneath you like so:

Next you cast a puppet on whichever platform is clear (2 or 3) and watch as the Spider scurries to that side. Now if you jump down, Strafe away. In all my experience, if you stand at the opposite end of platform 4, the Spider will never come back far enough to hit you. The only reason you want 2 or 3 to be Spider free is that more often than not, the Spider up there will kill the puppet before you've cleared platform 4.

Now finally, this part is actually probably the most important here - how do I free up platform 1? Simple. Jump down to either 2 or 3 (whichever has the least Spiders, just for ease) and do your best to kill the Spider on the platform. If you aren't a man like the author here, then you can always aggro the Spider on 2/3, teleport back to the top safe platform and cast a puppet there, then just jump back down and Strafe away. Anyway, after you've done that, just Strafe the platform 1 Spider from there, like so:

Area #2
Now this part is my favourite bit of the map. Extremely easy to kill a very large amount of Spiders. However it's also extremely frustrating, as you're a very very easy target for KSing here.

Now I'll usually come down here right after I clear Area #1 when I enter a map.

Basically Spiders can spawn everywhere there is a blue box, and practically all Spiders spawning on the top left and right platform (the boxes with an arrow) can jump down into the pit. However the good news is that any Spider that actually spawns on the platforms in the pit will stay there. As in, if they spawn on that platform, they cannot jump off it, which is good to know for Strafing.
Now when you come here, first things first. Kill all Spiders on platforms like so:

As I said before, bear in mind most Spiders you see on these platforms spawned here, meaning they cannot leave it. So you can stand practically next to them (as long as it's on another platform) and they can't touch you.

Before this next step, I'd aggro any Spiders on the top platforms outside of the pit, so they jump inside. Basically you want as many Spiders in the pit as possible.

Now this is where Arrow Rain becomes essential once more. You want to aggro all the Spiders in the pit, and I literally mean all. If even one Spider isnt aggravated then it can cost you a lot of time (but don't worry, there's an easy way to check). Basically, if you fire Arrow Rain from the long platform in the pit, you can hit all Spiders like so:

Now once you've done this, you've entered danger time, since all Spiders you hit are now after you, and they CAN hit you from where I'm standing in this picture. What you do is move to one of the small platforms left or right like so:

From here, the Spiders below you can't hit you (on either of these platforms). However Spiders on top still can jump on you, especially since Arrow Rain can hit them up there too. There also is the danger of a Spider spawning on you, but that happens rarely. Basically just be prepared.

Anyway, doing this, you usually can see which Spiders you've aggravated and which ones are neutral. If you can't figure it out, any Spider not trying to jump at you is neutral. This is where it gets tricky.

Basically if you hurry from one of the "safe" platforms to the other, usually you can outrun the Spiders following you and make it to the other platform safely, so you can Arrow Rain any stray Spiders. Now the trick in this is to jumpshoot an Arrow Rain as you move from one of the mini platforms to the other, so you can hit any stray Spider nearby. Picture example:

By jumpshooting at "X" you should land on the platform, but still hit all the Spiders below X. This takes some practise to get used to, and you may have to do it a few times to hit all Spiders. But basically, if all visible Spiders seem to be jumping under you, then you run to the other platform and they all follow, you can advance to the next step.

Now by standing up here (or the one on the other side) you can cast a puppet into the small pocket as pictures. The Spiders can't touch the puppet and, if you followed steps correctly, every Spider in the pit should be jumping in the one corner.

From here, you just jump to where I am and Arrow Bomb away. Now if every Spider wasn't aggravated, then if you hit a neutral with an Arrow Bomb it will come and attack you where you are (and it can hit you from there), meaning you have to recast 2 puppets to get everything neutral, and try to aggro them all again.

Now if the puppet vanishes before you've killed them all, just jump back onto the mini-platform, cast another Arrow Rain or two, then recast another puppet then go and Arrow Bomb them away. I'll usually continue until there are about 2 Spiders left then just switch to Strafe.

Occasionally it glitches so that you can't hit any Spiders at all while they are in the corner (rarely, and only when there are few Spiders left), and since the Spiders are stunned they won't move. I usually jump down, throw a PKB (which removes all stun) then jump back to the long platform and continue Arrow Bombing.

As you can also guess, since such a large amount of Spiders are all packed into a corner, you tend to get ksed a lot - more frustrating than anything. Nothing you can really do about this, apart from being polite to anyone who comes into your map.

Finally, looting can take a while, since there usually is a lot of stuff in the corner. Since you've just killed a large amount of Spiders pretty quickly, new Spiders will jump into the pit pretty quickly. What I usually do is try to aggro the few Spiders in the pit, then cast a Puppet like so:

This way the few Spiders hover around near the puppet, giving you ample time to loot everything then Strafe the remaining spiders (depending on what level your puppet is).

Oh and just as a note, you need decent jump boost to jump from the ground to the long lower platform. Like I've said before, 15 definitely covers it.

Area #3/#4

Well since Area #3 and 4# is practically identical (just mirrored of the other side) I'll keep this as one section that relates to both. As far as I know at the time of writing, there's no real difference between the two.

This section is probably the most dangerous of the guide, too. It involves running through Spider territory, shooting Arrow Rain as you go. Sounds fun eh?

Anyway I'll split this section into two parts. One to accomodate Section 1 and another to accomodate Section 2. Do note that the tactics I describe can be used for either side. For simplicity, I'll show pictures from the left side (though if people actually request it, I can take pictures from the right).

Section 1

Okay, firstly you need to know how to actually get to Section 1. If you go to the bottom of the map (Not the pit) and walk either to the left or right, you'll see a fire on the ground. Press up on it, and it will teleport you to the fire on the next level. In turn, the one in Section 1 will teleport you back down again.

Do note the mini-map.

Once you understand this, you'll recognize this on all sides. IIRC every fire you see in the map teleports you to another fire, so before you start training, I'd spend a few minutes getting familiar with it.

Anyway, this is where it gets dangerous. Basically you want to run right from the very left side of Section 1 to the very end, where you'll then jump off, while jumpshooting Arrow Rain as you run the distance. Why? So you can aggro many (if not all) Spiders on this platform as you move. On occasion, you can make it to the very end without being touched, but odds are you will get hit once, if not many times.

Just a picture demonstration so you get the idea:

In this picture I'm mid jumpshooting Arrow Rain. Basically you want to aggro as many Spiders as possible, but it's not necessary and it's no big deal if you miss one or two.

Now, remember Platform 4 from Area #1? I think you can see where this is going. As a note, before you start clearing out Section 1, make sure you've killed any Spiders on Platform 4.

Anyway, now you should have a mob of Spiders after you, swarming on the edge of Section 1. What you do now is use the fire teleporter on the platform in the pit to teleport to Platform 4. Now with a bit of positioning you can Arrow Bomb these guys to death.

Do note where I'm standing (and just mirror it when you're killing the other side), since if you go much further back you won't hit any Spiders at all, and if you go closer then you can only hit Spiders further away. It's all about getting the hang of the angles. Anyway, you'll only actually hit Spiders where the arrow is pointing or further away. Luckily Arrow Bombs explosion should damage them all. Also note that you will consistently knock them back, and (since they're stunned) they'll get so far back you can't hit them. All you do is wait for stun to wear off and they'll come back within range. In this time I'll usually jump on top of the sign and clear Platform 3 and 4 from Area #1. When only 3 Spiders remain I'll usually switch to Strafe to finish them off.

Also note that you generally won't see the Spiders when they die, so when you've killed them I'd jump off the platform in the direction you were firing, just so you can see if you got any drops.

As I've said, everything in Area #4 can be done in Area #3.

Section 2

Now you'll have to have cleared out Section 1 before you do this - it's very important.

Okay, you've killed as many Spiders as you can by sniping with Arrow Bomb. You now go back to Section 1 and walk the length, killing any Spider you see (there usually is maybe 2 walking around) - seperate them and Strafe them to death (not too difficult due to very low knockback and the ease of jumping over them).

Now the platform is clear. What now? You go back to where the teleporter fire is on Section 1 and stand in the position (or thereabouts) as pictured.

Note that you can go a bit further if you want to, experiment with it, you'll see why in a minute.

From this position, you can fire at an angle so you can safely hit Spiders on the Section above.

The aim here is to hit as many Spiders possible (or if you've got a large group stunned, then you can keep Arrow Bombing until death).

Pretty much Spiders are always running everywhere, so there's bound to be one that runs in your range - and it usually happens pretty quickly. Now what you do is that upon firing, hope that one gets stunned in your range. Now just wait for other Spiders to be nearby and when you shoot your stunned Spider, the explosion of Arrow Bomb will hit all other ones nearby too.

Eventually you'll have hit at least most of them, and chances are when they come out of their stun, they'll be gathered around on top of you, making them impossible to hit. The solution? Puppet.

Now all the Spiders should swarm within Arrow Bomb range, making finishing them off not too hard. Like in Section one, you'll eventually knock them back out of range so just wait for stun to wear off, and fire timed shots so that your Arrow Bomb will hit them as they run at you.

Now there should be maybe one or two Spiders remaining, and if you can be bothered you can just teleport in from the fire in Area #1 and Strafe them to death (or to hurry to loot a valuable drop).

Another easier (but much longer and cheaper) way to clear Section 2 is just to stand where I am in the picture and spam Arrow Rain. However this takes a loong time and is pretty boring. I'd only recommend it if you're up there and you see that a large amount of Spiders are gathered within Arrow Rain range.

Just something I've remembered that all Archers should be familiar with: A lot of stuff in this guide revolves around being able to hit Spiders on an angle as they move. What you must understand before you get good at this is the system for determining if your shot will hit.

Pretty much, as long as the Spider is in range when you press the key for whichever move, then you'll hit it. It's hard to explain, but if, when you press the key, the monster is in range at that moment then your shot will hit it. However since theres a lot of sniping, the monster will continue running as the arrow travels, and won't actually be hit until a few seconds later.

It's a difficult concept to explain, if you don't understand then say something and I'll try to do better.

That's it for now! I'll try to add some information for Snipers down the track, or if anyone contribute then I'll slip that in and credit them.

Thanks for reading, and if you see me training at Spiders, then yeah, don't hesitate to say hi. Oh but if I ask you to change channels, then change channels dammit! Just kidding. But really.

Sit n' Snipe: White Pangs

this mini-guide is for the people who want to gain decent experience but only putting little effort into the game. like the title says, all you need to do is sit and snipe. maple story mesos

location: wolf territory V

recommended requirements:

-lvl 6x+

-pet

-strong enough to 2hko pangs most of the time

pros:

-"laid back lvling." you can play one handed if you wanted to

-good alternative while waiting for a zombie map

-good drops (tobis, diamond) maple story mesos

-good money

-low white pot usage (300 white pots can last you half the day)

cons:

-chance of noob looting you (no problem if you have pet)

-xp is not as fast as zombies

-at a certain point, the game will prevent you from shooting unless you move a little. just tap your directional button to continue shooting.

-the spawn rarely messes up but when it does, it can be easily fixed by killing a different bridge then going back to your original bridge.

i'm hoping this will get more people to train here so it will turn the current "decent" spawn to "good-godly" spawn and making it the second best lvling spot next to zombies. maple story mesos

Why Train on Pixies?
--------------------------------

Pixies are naturally resistant to magic. Not only are their base magic defenses

high, but the two stronger Pixies can further increase their magic defense with

a skill. This reduces the amount of players who can train here, giving you more

chances to train peacefully without intrusion. buy maplestory mesos

The blue arrow pointing upwards indicates that this Pixie does higher damage

with its pimp cane... err, magic attack.

The blue circle is a shield, meaning that magic attacks do less damage to it.

Pixie drops are not all that impressive, though some equipment can sell for a

good deal. The real money makers of Pixies are in their leftovers. All Pixie

leftovers can be used in the exchange quest in Orbis, and the most notable prize

is a 60% Scroll for Cape INT, which is a rare prize for exchanging 100 Luster

Pixie Sunpieces.

Pixies also lend themselves to mob easily. They also can be sniped in certain

maps. It's so easy to train on Pixies as a ranged character; that and the money

there is to be made gives Archers a great place to train at for many levels. You

do not have to be funded to train here; in fact, when I was a new and unfunded

Hunter, I trained at Pixies with horrible equipment, yet I still fared well.

As far as experience rates go, there are other monsters that yield better EXP.

Pixies are meant to bring in revenues. Monsters like Zombies, Hectors, and

Gollems are better meant for EXP gaining. Needless to say, the EXP at Pixies

isn't bad, but there are other places to grind for more EXP.

--------------------------------
Requirements of an Archer
--------------------------------

You don't need to have lavish equipment to train on Pixies. You can get by with

subpar equipment. The purpose of training on Pixies is to provide a great source

of income while gaining EXP at the same time. For equipment, I will list the

minimum stats needed.

For first job skills, follow a standard build:

3 Blessing of the Amazon

8 Eye of the Amazon

For each training area, I will explain uses of your available skills at hand. I

do not recommend Final Attack Archers training here because the skill ruins

momentum here, especially when you have to mob. Final Attack Archers should

consider bigger, slower monsters, like Gollems or Yetis.
--------------------------------
When, Where, and How to Hunt Pixies
-------------------------------
There are a total of 9 maps containing Pixies. Of these, 3 contain sniping spots

with a packed ground floor. This guide will focus on those 3 maps, while only

touching on the rest.

Cloud Park IV

Suggested level range: 45-54

Monster spawns:

Star Pixie - 16 scattered

Lunar Pixie - 25 scattered

Fierry - 2, one at the topmost platform, one on the ground

One of my favorite maps for a long time, this map has a much more pleasant

design than the maps prior to this one. There are many sniping spots, and the

ground presents a great opportunity to mob.

Map Strategy

Blue square = spawn point; where you spawn when you log-in or change channels

Green Arrow = suggested flow

Red box = zones for party members

Orange circle = Fierry locations

Starting from any of the blue squares, you can easily jump into the flow. I

suggest going in a figure 8: clockwise around the top, then counter-clockwise

along the bottom half.

Fierries spawn every three minutes. If you attack one, kill it instantly before

it has a chance to buff ALL surrounding Pixies.

Anywhere there are staggered platforms like in zones 1 and 2, you can snipe the

Pixies from two platforms up, and they cannot attack back. Refer to this

screenshot:

A Pixie on an adjacent platform can attack back, but a Pixie two platforms down

cannot. Take that into consideration, and you can attack many Pixies without

getting hit back.

Ground floor: start at one end and work your way to the other while attacking

all Pixies on your way to get their attention. Gather them all up in one area:

Then jump down and attack them all:

You will get hurt, but that's the price to pay for killing faster.

The active skills you should have at your disposal:

L. 20 Double Shot - kills Star Pixies in one hit, Lunar Pixies in two

L. 9 Focus - not too particularly useful, but you might need it at the bottom

L. 6 Booster & L. 2 Soul Arrow - two buffs that last a minute each

L. 15 Bomb/IA - respectively, this is your only mobbing attack

At level 45, a Hunter has 192 base DEX with 45 STR; a Crossbower has 195 DEX

with 42 STR.

Bring about 200 White Potions and 400-600 Mana Elixirs. Pixies drop White and

Blue Potions, so you should get some Whites back, while you use the Blues you

find instantly.

Always have at least 200 HP at any given time. A Lunar Pixie can deal over 100

damage with its magic attack, and up to 200 or more if it casted Magic Up.

Partying

This map is best as a 3-person party, one person in each zone. It is possible to

have a 2-person party as well - one person will take zone 1, the other takes

zone 3, and zone 2 should be shared when the flow allows it. Party members to

consider having in a 3-person party are:

Warrior: zone 2 or 3; 2 is so the Warrior doesn't have to move far to attack, 3

is for the mobbing

Archer: zone 1 or 3; 1 is for sniping, 3 is for mobbing

Thief: zone 1 or 2; neither Assassins nor Bandits can mob yet

Equipment

The equipment I used here are (see the screenshot above):

Blue Distinction

Blue Moon

White Piette

Blue Piette Pants

Blue Pierre Shots

Gold Scaler

Old Raggedy Cape

Heckler: 65 ATK

Everything was average and clean except for the Heckler. With this setup I could

1-DS kill Star Pixies and 2-DS kill Lunar Pixies.

Minimum required equipment:

Any hat that adds something besides defense

Any earring

Any color Piette or Piettra

Any color Piette Pants or Piettra

Any shoe that adds something besides defense

Any glove that adds something besides defense

Cape is optional

Vaulter 2000 or Silver Crow

Suggested equipment:

Green Bamboo Hat or Green/Dark Distinction

Leaf Earring or Blue Moon

10 DEX Sauna Robe

Pierre Shoes or Green Snowshoes or Whitebottoms

Gold Scaler or better

Icarus Cape

Vaulter 2000: 62 ATK or Silver Crow: 66 ATK

Cloud Park V

Suggested level range: 49-59

Monster spawns:

Lunar Pixie - 21 scattered

Luster Pixie - 20 scattered

This map is almost a reflection of Cloud Park IV, but with a stronger Pixie and

sans Fierries. I personally never trained here, because I went from Cloud Park

IV straight to Cloud Park VI. Cloud Park V is a nice transition from IV to VI.

Map Strategy

Blue square = spawn point; where you spawn when you log-in or change channels

Green Arrow = suggested flow

Red box = zones for party members

Unlike Cloud Park IV, I suggest going clockwise around the map instead of a

figure 8 path. From where you spawn, you can easily jump right into the flow.

Like in Cloud Park IV, you can snipe Pixies from two platforms up.

On the ground, start at one end and get the attention of all the Pixies and work

your way to the other end:

Once your mob is sizable, get down there and kick them out:

See, even for level 99, I still get decent EXP.

You should have the same skills as listed for Cloud Park IV with one change:

L. 30 Bomb/IA - now that it's maxed, you can kill mobs faster

At level 50, a Hunter has 207 base DEX with 55 STR; a Crossbower has 212 DEX

with 50 STR.

Bring about 200 White Potions and 300-400 Pure Waters. Pixies drop White and

Blue Potions, so you should get some Whites back, while you use the Blues you

find instantly.

Always have at least 300 HP at any given time. A Luster Pixie can do over 200

damage with its magic attack, and up to 300 or more if it casted Magic Up.

Partying

This map has exactly the same layout as Cloud Park IV, one person in each zone

with a 3-person party. It is possible to have a 2-person party - one person will

take zone 1, the other takes zone 3, and zone 2 should be split in half by three

platforms. Party members to consider having in a 3-person party are:

Warrior: zone 2 or 3; 3 gives the best mobbing, 2 for the Power Striker

Archer: any zone; 1 and 2 for sniping, 3 for mobbing

Thief: zone 1 or 2; neither Assassins nor Bandits can mob yet

Equipment

Minimum required equipment:

Any Maro

Blue Moon or higher

Kismet or Lumati with +10 DEX via 100% scrolls

Any shoe that adds DEX or STR

Any glove that adds DEX

Any cape

Olympus or Rower with +7 ATK via 100% scrolls

Suggested equipment:

Green/Dark Maro

Skull/Heart Earrings

14 DEX Kismet/Lumati

Purple Steel-Tip Boots

Dark Willow

Icarus Cape

Olympus: 75 ATK or Rower: 78 ATK

Try to minimize substitute-STR, because it makes you stronger early yet weaker

later, and you want to be stronger later.

Cloud Park VI

Suggested level range: 51+

Monster spawns:

Lunar Pixie - 27 scattered

Luster Pixie - 28 scattered

Fierry - 2, one on the 6th platform from the top, one on the ground

The final map of Pixies, this is the home to many players, as it holds the most

amount of Luster Pixies in one map. The map is huge, and though the map design

is unique, it is perfect for Archers.

Map Strategy

Blue square = spawn point; where you spawn when you log-in or change channels

Green Arrow = suggested flow

Red box = zones for party members

Orange circle = Fierry locations

This map reverts back to the figure 8 flow from Cloud Park IV. For the top half,

work your way down platform by platform. At the bottom of zone 1, jump off to

the left, and work your way to the right while gathering up a huge mob. Luckily

you can use the rope to go directly to the top of the map to complete the flow.

Fierries spawn every three minutes. If you attack one, kill it instantly before

it has a chance to buff ALL surrounding Pixies, or, even worse, stun you.

Remember that you can snipe Pixies from two platforms up. Since there is one

long series of platforms, sniping is made easier in Cloud Park VI.

The ground floor is long and dangerous, made partly in fact by the wary Fierry

down there. One Fierry can ruin everything as you mob the Pixies on the ground:

Try your best to either avoid the Fierry or kill it quickly, as to not cause it

to buff your gigantic mob of Pixies. Buffed Pixies = sad you:

Or you could kill the Fierry WITH the mob.

As you get higher in levels, you have more skills to use. You should have maxed

Bomb/IA prior to training in Cloud Park VI. PKB is not so useful here because

Pixies are small and mob easily, so you may want to extend your buffs with the

SP you gain.

Bring about 300-400 Unagis and 500-600 Pure Waters. Pixies drop White and Blue

Potions, which should be used as soon as you can to conserve inventory space. If

you train correctly, you should be using up Pure Waters faster than Unagis.

Always have at least 300 HP at any given time. A Luster Pixie can do over 200

damage with its magic attack, and up to 300 or more if it casted Magic Up.

Partying

There are only 2 zones here since there is no easy flow to fit in more. However,

each zone is well suited to any job because of the map layout.

Zone 1:

Warrior: mostly will use Power Strike

Archer: pure sniping with Double Shot

Thief: sniping with Lucky 7 or striking with Savage Blow

Zone 2:

Warrior: mostly will use Slash Blast

Archer: will utilize Bomb/IA more than Double Shot

Thief: will undergo "panic attack": jumping and attacking, hoping that something

gets hit

Equipment: Level 50-59

Minimum required equipment:

Any Maro

Blue Moon or higher

Kismet or Lumati with +10 DEX via 100% scrolls

Any shoe that adds DEX or STR

Any glove that adds DEX

Any cape

Olympus or Rower with +7 ATK via 100% scrolls

Suggested equipment:

Green/Dark Maro

Skull/Heart Earrings

14 DEX Kismet/Lumati

Purple Steel-Tip Boots

Dark Willow

Icarus Cape

Olympus: 75 ATK or Rower: 78 ATK

Try to minimize substitute-STR, because it makes you stronger early yet weaker

later, and you want to be stronger later.

Equipment: Level 60-69

Minimum required equipment:

Any Polyfeather Hat

Blue Moon or higher

Tai or Choro with +10 DEX via 100% scrolls

Any shoe that adds DEX or STR

Any glove that adds DEX

Any cape

Asianic Bow or Golden Crow with +7 ATK via 100% scrolls

Suggested equipment:

Black Polyfeather Hat

Pink-Flowered Earrings or better

15+ DEX Tai/Choro

Green Gore Boots or Green Snowshoes with DEX

Dark Garner or any glove with ATK

Icarus Cape or any cape with DEX

Asianic Bow: 85 ATK or Golden Crow: 88 ATK

Try to minimize substitute-STR, because it makes you stronger early yet weaker

later, and you want to be stronger later.

Other Cloud Parks

Cloud Park I

PROS: Contains only Star Pixies, decent clockwise flow

CONS: No sniping potential

Cloud Park II

PROS: None!

CONS: No sniping potential, no flow, Nependeaths attack on sight

Cloud Park III

PROS: Decent clockwise flow with some Lunar Pixies in the mix

CONS: No sniping potential

--------------------------------

Now what?

--------------------------------

After a long training session at Pixies, you should walk away with much EXP and

Mesos. Your inventory should be full of Shinies, feathers, monster cards, ores,

and occasional drops.

Oh, and I forgot to make this point before:

YOU NEED A FREE MARKET STORE TO RAKE IN THE CASH!

Without one, you simply have an inventory full of stuff that you can't use but

someone else can. Invest in getting a Free Market store, because that's the only

way to make the big bucks. Remember to sell everything you don't need! The best

money-maker lies in all those Shinies.

If you seriously cannot afford a Free Market Store, sell it via one of the many

Maple Story websites available. The potential for greater profit is list this

way, however.

Quests involving Pixies

--------------------------------

Fortunately, there are more reasons why you should hunt Pixies other than for

training. There are various quests that can be done involving Pixies.

VIP Ticket to Florina Beach

This quest starts in Omega Sector and ends in Orbis. Part 2 of this quest

requires 30 Star Pixie's Starpieces and 30 Lunar Pixie's Moonpieces.

Orbis in Danger

You must activate this quest first before hunting the Pixies for the items. Part

2 of this quest requires 30 Cloud Pieces, which will only drop if you talk to

the Mysterious Girl for the quest. Cloud Pieces drop from any Pixie, but at a

low drop rate.

The Chaos behind Alfonse Green and the Nependeath Juice

The first part of this long quest requires 100 Star Pixie's Starpieces and 80

Lunar Pixie's Moonpieces.

In Search of the Book of Ancient

At one point during this quest, you will need 100 Star Pixie's Starpieces, 50

Lunar Pixie's Moonpieces, and 30 Luster Pixie's Sunpieces.
